What You Can Expect

Your day begins with collection from your accommodation in Walvis Bay or Swakopmund, followed by a short briefing before heading into the desert.

Walvis Bay Lagoon

Start at this tranquil RAMSAR wetland, home to up to 250,000 flamingos, pelicans, avocets, and other bird species.

Salt Refinery

Stop near Africa’s largest solar evaporation plant, producing over 750,000 tons of salt annually — an unexpected and photogenic highlight.

Beach Drive

Receive hands-on guidance for sand and dune driving techniques along the way.

Sandwich Harbour

Enter the Namib-Naukluft National Park and reach the dramatic point where towering dunes cascade straight into the Atlantic Ocean. Climb 100-metre dunes for panoramic views and unforgettable photos.

Lunch in the Desert:

If weather allows, lunch is enjoyed at Sandwich Harbour itself. If not, a secluded desert spot is selected instead.

Pelican Point Peninsula:

On the return journey, visit the seal colony and lighthouse at Pelican Point, where thousands of Cape Fur Seals lounge along the shore.

The day concludes with a relaxed drive back to Walvis Bay, keeping an eye out for wildlife along the way.

Important Notes

Best for:

Nature lovers, photographers, families, and first-time visitors to Namibia’s coast.

 Bring:

Sun protection, comfortable shoes, camera, and a sense of adventure.

Weather & Tides

Access to the Sandwich Harbour lagoon depends on tidal and weather conditions. If access is restricted, a spectacular lagoon viewpoint will be visited instead.
