What You Can Expect
Your guide will collect you from your accommodation in Walvis Bay or Swakopmund at approximately 08:30, followed by a short briefing before heading into the desert.
Dune 7:
Begin your adventure at Namibia’s most famous dune, rising 132 metres above the surrounding desert. Climb to the summit for breathtaking panoramic views.
Moon Landscape:
Continue into one of Namibia’s most extraordinary geological areas. Formed over 500 million years ago, the Moon Landscape has a terrain so surreal it has been used as a filming location for major productions.
Welwitschia Plains:
Next, visit the legendary Welwitschia mirabilis. This rare plant is found only in the Namib Desert. Some specimens are over 2,000 years old, with leaves that grow continuously throughout their lifetime.
River Valley & Oasis:
Travel through the dry Swakop River Valley, where large boulders and ancient riverbeds, create contrast to the open desert. Finally, stop at the Goanikontes Oasis, to relax and enjoy lunch in desert beauty.
After lunch, enjoy a scenic return drive back to your accommodation.

About the Welwitschia "Living Fossil"
The Welwitschia mirabilis is one of the most extraordinary plants on Earth. Found only in the Namib Desert, it produces just two leaves in its lifetime and they never stop growing.
Some specimens are estimated to be over 2000 years old, making them among the oldest living plants in existence. Seeing one in person is a rare and unforgettable experience.
